As an independent broker, I'm appointed with multiple carriers — meaning I can quote across all of them and recommend what fits your situation, not what I'm captive to.
I hold a resident insurance producer license in Florida (where I live and primarily operate). For each of the other 22 states where I'm licensed, I hold a non-resident license issued by that state's department of insurance.
Both license types are equally valid — a non-resident license gives me the same authority to sell, advise on, and service insurance in that state as a local resident broker would have. Continuing education requirements are met through Florida's CE program, which is reciprocally accepted by all 22 non-resident states.
